Thirty-five years after its release, the cast of the iconic adventure film The Goonies reunite for a chat and to help raise money for charity, thanks to the Frozen actor Josh Gad.
Gad is a huge fan of the 1985 cult classic, which follows a group of kids as they go on an adventure while trying to save their homes from foreclosure, and helped launched the careers of Josh Brolin, Sean Astin and Corey Feldman.
Directed by Richard Donner and produced by Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg, the iconic adventure film has literally been a favorite of millions, with enough staying power to keep it relevant even today.
The Goonies was responsible for creative inspiration for an entire generation. With its wide appeal as well as enduring principles, the film is still being passed on to the children to enjoy this classic. Die hard fans have been hoping that, given the popularity of sequels and franchises over the years, a Goonies 2 would emerge at some point, but to date that doesn’t seem to be the case.
While the coronavirus pandemic continues to force people in isolation and lockdown, many celebrities are conducting stay at home concerts and webseries to connect with their fans and give them something to cheer up. Frozen star Josh Gad has launched a YouTube channel from which he hosts his new webseries, Reunited Apart. The new show will serve as a fundraising platform for The Center For Disaster Philanthropy, which seeks to aid some of those who have been hardest hit financially by the pandemic. In exchange for donations, Gad will reunite casts of various hit films via video chat. Things were kicked off in a big way recently, as the channel’s first reunion was none other than the cast of The Goonies. The video below even shows Steven Spielberg getting in on the fun.
