Power Restored In Bossier Parish After Massive Outage

Power is restored for more than 21,000 SWEPCO customers in Bossier Parish after an equipment failure caused an outage early Friday.

Thousands of Bossier Parish residents woke up without power this Friday morning. About 21,000 customers were without power after the outage hit at 5:37 a.m. according to Swepco’s power outage map.

The outage area starts around Barksdale Air Force Base, travels east through areas of Haughton and out to the Princeton area, where approximately 600 households were without power.

A representative from SWEPCO said a lightning arrestor, a piece of equipment used to protect other equipment from lightning strikes, failed and had to be replaced. Power was restored around 7 a.m.
