Operations at most of the Passport Office, PSKs and POPSKs in India were suspended till 3rd May, 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. This was causing difficulties to citizens who needed to get a new passport or apply for renewal of their passport.
Passport Office has resumed operations starting 6th May in a staggered manner. In an announcement on the website it is mentioned “Operations at select Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) have been resumed. Please refer the list of operational PSKs in the Latest News Section. Operations at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras(POPSKs) shall remain suspended until further instructions. Applicants may reschedule their appointments to the nearest operational PSK to avail the services.”
“Restrictions on the number of rescheduling allowed for appointments have been relaxed in case applicant is unable to visit the PSK on the date of appointment.”
Applicants are advised to wear a mask, carry sanitizer, download and install “Aarogya Setu App” and follow social distancing norms at PSKs during the visit.”
Some of the applicants at Bangalore PSK reported the issue that they are not able to book an appointment after submitting their application online under TATKAAL. They were getting the message that the service is not available at the selected PSKs. Well the workaround to this issue is to book an appointment under Regular slot and not under TATKAAL slot. Under Regular slot, appointment is available for the following day.
