Garena Free Fire Launched Operation Cutcord, Taking Strong Action Against Hackers

Garena Free Fire has recently announced several anti-hack measures as part of Operation Cutcord including banning thousands of accounts owned by cheaters and hackers on a daily basis.

In the days following Free Fire’s April 8 patch, their anti-hack detection system sounded the alarm due to a rapid increase of hack users. This matched their customer service data, which had shown a spike of cheater reports from the players. Their anti-hack team kicked into overdrive mode as they tried to figure out this anomaly.

Garena Free Fire is one of the most popular mobile games at the moment with it’s download count rising everyday. Many Free Fire tournaments are being organised in order to expand the esports scene of the game to match up with the recently boosted mobile esports ecosystem in India. But with the games rising popularity, there has been a significant increase in hackers activities as well.

As part of Operation Cutcord, Garena Free Fire has banned over 700,000 cheating accounts reported by players to maintain fairness. Their enhanced anti-hack system wiped out more than 3.8 million accounts of cheaters who used modified client or third-party programs. This in itself depicts how rampant cheating and hacking has been in this popular game.

Free Fire Anti-Hack Operations Team further added “We’re not quite done yet. While we were looking for scripts, we also fixed some tech barriers in our game client. Soon, constantly registering new accounts and annoying normal players will be a thing of the past.

And as a final flourish, we made some new technical breakthroughs. Do expect another large group of cheaters to be banned soon.

Operation Cutcord phase 1 may have been concluded successfully, but this is only a beginning. In the near future, we will keep seeking out signs of new hacks, enhancing our anti-hack system, and adapt to new hacks more timely.

Free Fire has a zero-tolerance policy towards cheating. Cheating and hacking are permanent-ban offences. An account banned with firm evidence of cheating/hacking will not be unbanned under any circumstances.

So keep reporting cheaters, and be careful not to share your account or mobile information with strangers. Apart from that, just sit back and enjoy a much cleaner Free Fire.”

Recently, players from India’s biggest Free Fire organisations such as Entity Gaming and TSG Army were caught using hacks in the Free Fire Scrim Wars 2020, which was detected by the in-game anti-hack system.

But it looked like some of the ‘professional players’ didn’t learn a lesson from this ban and didn’t stop cheating. Another professional team Bandra 50 got banned because of using a modified APK version of Free Fire.

In the new patch released on May 27th, Garena has added new anti-hack systems into the Free Fire game to ensure that no players are getting an edge by using third-party programs to assist them. The Dev team has made their intention clear that they have a zero-tolerance policy against hackers. When players are banned from using unofficial third party programs, Garena will not lift those bans under any circumstances, any time.
