Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande Drop New Single ‘Rain on Me’

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande just dropped the most awaited 2020 song of the summer: “Rain on Me.” And in a new interview, Gaga tells about how the collaboration came to be.

“It was the joy of two artists going, like, ‘I see you,'” Gaga told Zane Lowe of Apple Beats 1. The two connected so much, in fact, that Grande tried to pursue a friendship with Gaga after they finished the song. But something held Gaga back. “She was so persistent. She would try over and over again to be friends with me,” Gaga said, per E! News. “And I was too ashamed to hang out with her because I didn’t want to project all of this negativity onto something that was healing and so beautiful.”

“Eventually she called me on my sh-t. She was, like ‘You’re hiding,'” Gaga continued. “And I was like, ‘I am hiding. I’m totally hiding.’ And then this friendship blossomed.”

“Rain on Me” is all about dancing through your tears and pain. It’s catchy as hell and ready-made for a dance floor. “I’d rather be dry, but at least I’m alive / Rain on me, rain, rain,” they sing in the chorus.

“One time, I felt like I was crying so much it would never stop. Instead of fighting it, I thought, ‘Bring it on. I can do hard things,'” Lady Gaga tweeted upon the song’s release. “@arianagrande, I love you for your strength and friendship. Let’s show them what we’ve got.”

Grande wrote about Gaga “One time, I met a woman who knew pain the same way I did, who cried as much as I did, drank as much wine as I did, ate as much pasta as I did, and whose heart was bigger than her whole body. She immediately felt like a sister to me,” she wrote on Twitter. “She then held my hand and invited me into the beautiful world of Chromatica, and together we got to express how beautiful and healing it feels to cry! I hope this makes you all feel as uplifted as it does for us both. I love you @ladygaga, you stunning superwoman!”

Fans are excited to listen to the song. We hope that it brings some much required cheer and entertainment amid lockdown gloom.
